Sunday ke Fundey
Went out for lunch with my dad, wife and son. Mom went with her youngest sister to Malleshwaram to meet another sister. The noise level in Malleshwaram is expected to go up! 3 ladies chatting, beware!
Met a couple of senior citizens who are respected elders in our community. The idea was to 'show' my son to them. After that, went to the Woody's restaurant in the JP Nagar Inner Ring Road. Had some Fried Rice, Veg Balls in Garlic sauce and Baby Corn Manchurian. Good stuff. Chased that with 'Curd Rice'. Hey, I'm south-Indian after all!!
Went for a drive late evening with wife and kid. Watched my current favorite show - American Chopper featuring the Orange County Choppers gang. This is simply a superb show. Reality TV at it's best.
Saturday - Family day

Sober day today - Grandfather's death anniversary. Spent nearly all day at my uncle's place.
This is a typical Hindu function and usually consists of a 'Puja' where a priest arrives and conducts certain rituals at home. This is followed by lunch which has a standard menu plus one or two of the departed person's favorite items! The meal is typically south-indian, served on a plaintain leaf. The image nearby is only indicative and is not the real thing but you get the idea.
Usually, the entire family gathers again in the evening to polish off the leftovers. The excess is given away the next day. Altogether, it is an occassion where the entire family bonds with no malices.
Freaky Friday
After a long day at the office, my colleagues and I stopped for a drink on Hosur Road. This was a small little joint called Bageecha and we swigged a couple of beers and then went home. Did a lot of bitching while we were at it.
Sometimes this helps. Dont know how many of you agree with me but once in a while, it is good to let your hair down and chat about the sore thumbs in the office. It doesn't harm anyone and it can get out of your mind. I call it bitch-therapy for want of a better name.
It was raining mildly as usual and by the time I reached home, it was almost 12 am. Perfect time to crash out. Sleep - Tired Nature's Sweet Restorer, as mentioned in many Wodehouse novels.
Mumbai limping back

Mumbai is now limping back to normal, leaving around 200 dead. Not counting the few dead in the massive fire that gutted the platform of ONGC in the Bombay High sea. Tragedy.
Brother-in-law and uncle are stuck in Mumbai with no way to come back to Bangalore. I guess they can come tomorrow. All flights are beginning to leave from today evening.
Otherwise the day was ok, busy all thru'. No time for a quick cuppa too. Must do something about my weight. Bloating up slightly. C'mon, man!!! It's time to start doing the daily dozen. Or maybe start playing some sort of morning sport. Maybe Badminton.
Raining in Bangalore all day
Rain, rain! Go away! Come again, another day! Little Johnny wants to play!

Remembered these lines from a Kindergarten poem. Bloody rain all day. Stopped for a while and then rained some more. Had a very late lunch, though I hate calling quarter pizza and Sev-puri as lunch. This was washed down with an excellent glass of Masala Tea, from the Coffee-Day Express counter in our cafeteria.
Atlast, got to escalate a couple of tickets to the buggers at GI-D Ops. Let them handle the tickets which tend to get sticky. Maybe they enjoy it.
I have noticed that ever since I got my new phone, no one seems to call me anymore! Do they know and are having some fun at my expense? Praveen though keeps the hopes alive. Keeps calling me with some new discovery with his phone.
Routine day checking out our mobiles

Rather dull day today. Excuse me if I sound repetitive. It's just that these days, the weather is doing things to us. Like making us lethargic. Colleague and I spent most of the day rediscovering features of our new mobiles.
Mumbai, the city of dreams has seen some nightmares lately. Terrible rains destroying property and what seems to be the world's heaviest rainfall ever has pured on the city - 37 inches!!! This is still being verified. The pic nearby is from
www.ndtv.com.
Tomorrow is going to be another day as several thousands of Congress supporters are expected to 'grace' the rally commemorating the appointment of one of the local bigwigs Mallikarjuna Kharge as State Congress Chief. Really don't know what the big hullabaloo is all about. Anyway, good luck to him.
Monday blues are actually grey
Pretty cloudy day this. Rain looms large and the usual comments from the DJs on RadioCity 91 were ringing loud and clear.
Took the first snap from my Nokia 6230i. It's good, maan! Absolutely clear and no grains, not until you look for them.
The day went off well, closed a few tickets and took on some more. Job is getting to be routine. Reach office, spend few minutes, go to the cafeteria, have the same 'north-indian' lunch or the ubiquitous 'Curd-Rice', come back, back-and-forth with a few customer calls, snacks, tickets and time to go. Reach home, have a glass of milk, sleep, get up, get fresh, tea, leave for office.......
If that is what I have to do for the next few months, I guess it will drill in a lot of discipline into me!
Crossed the Bridge
Finally, I've done it! I must confess, I never thought I'd do it. I was hesitant at first but took the plunge and made that momentous decision. I knew I was taking a step in a direction I had never taken before. Atleast not after deliberating like this. I also knew that it would cause me great pain........I mean, great pain to my wallet. Yes, folks, it's here finally, my very own Nokia 6230i at Rs.14200/- !!!
Muralibabu, Praveen and I went ahead and spent our hard-earned on this phone and are really having a ball.
More soon.
Sat nowhere this Saturday
Early this morning, left for Sarjapur to play some cricket in our office campus. Made 1 run and took a catch. Quite boring, nothing exciting. In the afternoon, went to Malleshwaram to have lunch with my wife's brother and other relatives. Good lunch. Had some fun, watched home videos of my son's antics.
Getting to be a handful, Ritesh is. Always upto something, when he is not busy doing something else. So full of energy!
Brought back the wife and son home. Picked up some grub on the way. The usual Baby Corn Manchurian was there too.
Just Another Day at the Office
Nothing happened, spent the day solving tickets, have noticed lately that I am not escalating any tickets to GI Ops guys in Malaysia. Is that a good thing? I don't know. It was only me on the cab, and received an invitation from a colleague Subeesh for a light liquid snack. Switched cabs and stopped at a wayside 'bar' near The Forum and had a couple of beers with him. Praveen sat and watched - doesn't drink alcohol. Reached home late, but hey, what the heck!
Nokia 6230i Fans

Getting to be a little too much. A colleague of mine, Praveen, and I have decided to buy the Nokia 6230i mobile phone for ourselves. The trouble is we decided this early in February! And we are still planning, evaluating, researching and investigating.
However things seem to be settling down and we have arrived at the price which seems to be more like what we want to hear about - Rs.14,xxx/-. So, who know, we may buy it by this month-end or the next, or next month, or next quarter.......
Today was alright, closed a few tickets and the day was spent rather well. And tomorrow's another day.
Out-Of-Production

This is truly a grand day at the office when I get ot sit around doing nothing and contributing nothing to the progress of this great company. The company in question, is the world's first SEI CMM Level-5 software company, Wipro Technologies, Bangalore.
